Access Statement

It is our desire and aim that we should be able to cater for people of all abilities and to this end we will do whatever we can to accommodate our customers needs.

Our Park is a level park with wide roads laid to shingle, and with concrete access to all the buildings. The shingle is, unfortunately, not the easiest for wheelchairs and buggies, especially with narrow tyres, but we do have many people stay with us without any problems. There are extra large fully serviced pitches available during the summer season providing water and grey water drainage, and with their own picnic tables. All of our Hard-standing and Grass pitches have parking adjacent to the customers’ unit and most are on firm flat ground.

The Park is served with 16-amp electric hook ups to cater for most needs, with water points and grey water drains conveniently sited around the park. All of the public buildings on the Park, including the Reception and Tourist Information, are on one level and have wide doors for wheelchair and mobility scooter access. Both toilet blocks have double entrance doors. There is a wheelchair ramp to each toilet block. One block contains a disabled/family room comprising of a toilet with full supports, a shower (without a step), also a foldaway seat and handrail supports as well as a washbasin, low level mirrors, and a baby changing station. The other block has a separate disabled/family room in both the Ladies and Gents facilities. This room is spacious and contains a toilet with handrail support, a large shower, accessed by a small step, with hand rail support, as well as a washbasin, low level mirrors and a baby changing station. If it would be helpful for you, we will try and reserve a pitch as near as possible to the toilet block if you let us have full details of your request when you make your reservation.

We take the safety of our guests very seriously and therefore there is a 5mph speed limit throughout the Park with clearly marked speed bumps in several locations. The speed bumps are gentle and their presence makes the park safer for everyone. At night we operate a low light pollution policy, and advise everyone to use torches when moving around after dark. We have many lovely woodland walks, with wide wooden pedestrian bridges over the streams. We ask that care be taken within this natural environment of uneven ground, tree roots and rabbit holes.

The Park has a shop with off licence that caters for most requirements, including freshly baked bread in the summer and a selection of caravan spares. There are larger supermarkets nearby and Reception can provide directions if required.

The heated outdoor swimming pool is accessed via steps. The depth at the shallow end is 1 metre increasing gradually to 1.4 metres at the deepest. There is also a paddling pool for younger children. The surrounding area has level access and is laid to slabs and grass with picnic benches and sun umbrellas. We have no constant poolside supervision, so under 16’s require parental supervision at all times. The pool is located next to reception, which is staffed during pool opening hours.

There is no direct bus service from the Park to the surrounding areas, however there are local Taxi companies (that can provide wheelchair accessible transport). A main line railway station is 2 ½ miles away with links to Poole, Bournemouth, Weymouth and further afield if required.

Dogs are most welcome on the Park, but we do ask that they are kept on a lead, and that you clear up after them. If an assistance dog may not be kept on a lead, then this should be discussed at the time of booking.

Reception is open 8.30am to 8.30pm during High Season, and 8.30am to 5.30pm at all other times. For emergencies outside of these hours the Duty Warden can be contacted either by the doorbell on the right of the outer door or by telephoning an emergency number. We have staff with experience in dealing with those who are hard of hearing or have visual impairment. We also have written guidance and large text documents if required.

Unfortunately there is limited reception on most mobile networks in the forest, but there is a coin-operated phone available on the Park with single level access. TV reception needs a good aerial, preferably on a pole, to get a reasonable signal. Please let us know when booking if you have a satellite dish, so we can try and put you on a pitch with a clear signal without a tree in the way.

The Park Owners, Tony and Sarah Birch, reside on the Park and along with the wardens, will be happy to discuss any requirements you may have. If you feel you require help at anytime before or during your visit please mention this when booking and we will be delighted to assist if possible.

WHAT OUR GUESTS HAVE TO SAY...

Have just returned from 2 weeks stay at your touring park and wanted to let you know that we had a fantastic time, especially as the weather was on our side.

The facilities were always clean and the staff very helpful.  The park is certainly located in an ideal place as its not too far for visiting some of the lovely sites in Dorset.

September 2009

We just wanted to say a great big thank you for making our holiday so enjoyable, as we left early on the Sunday morning so missed to speak to anyone. The site was perfect for us. It was clean, tidy and very well organised. The lovely bike tracks through the forests were great and the lovely clean pool to swim in or just relax by was fantastic.

All the staff were so friendly and helpful as nothing was a problem, if you asked them any information they were very kind and generous with their local knowledge and understanding.

Will definitely recommend this site to anyone and would definitely stay with you again if we came down there for a holiday again.

Thank you so much again, a big pat on the back for you all.
