Wi-Fi Network FAQ

Q. My laptop cannot find the Wireless network.
A. Many laptops have a small switch or software setting to turn on the Wi-Fi radio, please check your manual.

Q. I connect but get a "DNS error" when I open my browser.
A1. Most likely you have security software running such as "Norton Internet Security", you will need to set your security software so that you can connect to the Wi-Fi network - please check your security software documentation.
A2. You don't have DHCP enabled, please enable DHCP in your network connections (from Control Panel).

Q. How do I logout?
A. Simply type logout in your browser address bar or click here.

Q. How do I check how many minutes I have left?
A. Simply type infobox in your browser address bar to see how many minutes you have left, or click here.

Q. Can I add Wi-Fi to my laptop (or desktop)?
A. Yes, you can buy the Linksys WUSB54GS from Amazon and PC World for about £40. IMPORTANT ensure you buy the WUSB54GS not the WUSB54G (the "S" really matters) as it has a much better radio.

Q. Are there differences between types of Wi-Fi adaptors?
A. Unfortunately some Wi-Fi radios are not as good as others, the best we have seen is the Intel 2915 followed by the Broadcom Wi-Fi radio.

Q. My laptop connects to the Wireless network but after I move it there are connection problems.
A. We have installed multiple Access Points (APs) and you may get better reception from another AP. Windows won't look for another AP unless it completely looses the signal. To tell Windows to check for the best signal right click on the blue flashing "computer" icon in the tray by the clock and select repair.

Q. I have LINUX loaded on my laptop and have trouble connecting, what should I do?
A. Please contact reception for connection details.

Q. I can receive email from my existing ISP email account but not send it.
A. Some ISPs require that you have different email settings to send email when on another network - contact your ISP for more information.

Q. How do I get an email address?
A. Gmail (AKA Googlemail) is good email solution, it will work on any PC, on any Internet connection with just a username and password. Gmail is available for free - visit Gmail.com for more information.

Q. What can I do to make my computer more secure?
A. Windows Update is very important as it automatically updates Windows with all the security fixes. Click Start then All Programs then Windows Update.

Q. What about spyware?
A. Microsoft has a free AntiSpyware program - visit their web site for more information.

Q. Do I need to buy Firewall software?
A. Microsoft now includes a Firewall with Windows which you will get if you run Windows update.

Q. I see lots of programs that I can download from the Internet such as icons for emails and security checks.
A. Many of these programs are spyware, please do not download any programs unless you are very sure of the provider.

Q. Can I make phone calls using my computer?
A. Yes, a leading provider is Skype; www.skype.com

Q. I have a question not covered above.
A. Email david@windsorwireless.com with your question.

David Bellamy Award Scheme

This year Wareham Forest Tourist Park received the Gold David Bellamy Conservation Award for the work they’ve done to the protect and enhance Britain’s natural environment.

WHAT OUR GUESTS HAVE TO SAY...

Have just returned from 2 weeks stay at your touring park and wanted to let you know that we had a fantastic time, especially as the weather was on our side.

The facilities were always clean and the staff very helpful.  The park is certainly located in an ideal place as its not too far for visiting some of the lovely sites in Dorset.

September 2009

We just wanted to say a great big thank you for making our holiday so enjoyable, as we left early on the Sunday morning so missed to speak to anyone. The site was perfect for us. It was clean, tidy and very well organised. The lovely bike tracks through the forests were great and the lovely clean pool to swim in or just relax by was fantastic.

All the staff were so friendly and helpful as nothing was a problem, if you asked them any information they were very kind and generous with their local knowledge and understanding.

Will definitely recommend this site to anyone and would definitely stay with you again if we came down there for a holiday again.

Thank you so much again, a big pat on the back for you all.
